  • The Great White Pelican is an animal well adapted to the acquatic habitat. It has short, palmate, strong legs. During the take off phase, it can seem awkward but once in the air it is a very good flier. Pelicans often move in V formations. They live along rivers, on lakes and seas. Their most typical characteristic is the bill pouch attached to the jaw. This structure is used to catch fish. Pelicans nest in large colonies and the females lay 2-4 eggs in a nest built on the ground or a tree.
