Elephants in general are social creatures that use a large repertoir of interactions. They use many sounds of which the most famous is the trumpeting. The trunk is used to amplify the sounds emitted. The dimensions of the Asian Elephant are smaller than those of its African relative and so are its ears.

The ivory tusks are found only in some males while they are lacking in females. They have a long lifespan that can reach 60-70 years. They are used for farm work, transport of logs or as pack animals.
