The Black-and-white Ruffed Lemur lives in the main forests of Madagascar, which is currently strongly threatened by deforestation. This species is largely influenced by this situation and is at risk of extinction. It has a soft black and white mantel.
The Black-and-white ruffed lemur is able to build a nest; before giving birth the mother pulls off hair from her sides and uses it to cushion the bottom and sides of the nest. Newborns develop very slowly; in fact three weeks they are not able to climb by themselves yet.
