The Siaman lives in forests. It is larger than the Gibbon.
Both male and females are black and like all anthropoid monkeys don’t have a tail.
In spite of its size, the Siamang climbs trees with exceptional agility and swings from tree to tree using its long arms.
It sleeps on the tallest branches. It has a large “gular sac” through which it makes loud resonating calls used to communicate.
After a gestation of 7-8 months, only one young is born and is raised for one year and a half.
