The Ostrich is the largest existing bird. It lives in steppe and desert habitats. It is a flightless bird, but it is an excellent runner; it leads a gregarious life and is easily domesticated. The female lays up to 8-10 eggs at a time that are nested by the male. The dimensions of one egg, that weighs 1,5 kg, can be compared to that of 24 chicken eggs.
This animal should be approached with caution due to the blows it can give with its beak or nails.
